Patients Rights are:

  • To know the mission statement of the health care facility and the type of services that
  • To be treated with dignity and respect, consistent with professional standards for all patients, regardless of the manner of payment, race, sex, nationality, religion, culture, disability, or any other
  • To be treated to the highest professional standards by appropriately licensed , qualified, and experienced Practi- tioners in a properly licensed and approved
  • To receive care that is considerate and respectful of the patients’ personal values and
  • To receive health care on the basis of clinical
  • To receive emergency medical care and treatment easily and
  • To be referred to a Specialist/Consultant for special care when there is a clinical
  • To receive a detailed explanation of their condition, care, treatment, and aftercare, in terms that are free from profes- sional jargon in order that the patient can fully
  • To access their medical record and medical
  • To seek a second opinion without fear of compromise to his or her care within or outside the
  • To receive privacy during examination, procedures, clinical care/treatment; and they have the right to know who is in attendance and the purpose of those in
  • To receive informed consent for treatment, procedures, and interventions, as per HAAD Consent Policy (Reference PPR/HCP/P0003/07).
  • To receive verbal and written information about any proposed treatment and to be told if there are any alternatives available.
  • To have all clinical and pharmaceutical records kept fully updated and relevant, information fully documented, and personal details and records kept fully confidential and protected from loss and/or
  • To receive information on admission regarding the health care facility’s regulations and relevant
  • To reasonable safety in relation to the health care facility environment and
  • To receive freedom to choose the pharmaceutical care
  • To receive relevant, current, and understandable information concerning their drugs and
  • To take decisions about their drugs and treatment
  • To discuss and request information related to their specific drug therapy, possible adverse side effects, and drug interactions.
  • To have drug therapy monitored for safety and efficacy and reasonable efforts made to detect and prevent allergies, adverse reactions, or
  • To monitor the patient compliance and proper drug use and institute remedial interventions when
  • To be provided with Arabic/English interpreter services; all other language barriers will be accommodated based upon availability of translation
  • To have any complaint that they may make acknowledged and fully
  • To be protected from physical assault during their visit/stay in the health care
  • To have appropriate protection if they are children, disabled, elderly, or
  • To expect care at the end of their lives which is respectful and
  • To be informed regarding any uncovered costs and expenses prior to making decisions regarding their
  • To receive treatment in an emergency situation regardless of the status of their Insurance
  • To receive information on how to make a complaint to the health care facility if unhappy about the lack of access to their rights, medical examination or treatment, behavior of the staff or health care facility safety
  • To be informed of all aftercare/discharge instructions.

 

Your responsibilities are to:   

  • Bring a valid ID, medical, and insurance cards every time you visit the
  • Follow the rules and regulations of the
  • Follow the treatment plan as outlined by the health care
  • Ask any questions if they are not clear about any aspect of the health care
  • Consider the rights and responsibilities of other patients and health care
  • Show respect and courtesy to the
  • Avoid using abusive language and/or display unsocial behavior to other patients, visitors, or
  • Show consideration for other patients’
  • Use the emergency services only for very urgent problems or when you are unable to use other health ser-
  • Give accurate information about your personal details and past medical history, including current treat- ments, medications, history of allergic reaction to any
  • Safeguard any belonging which you decide to keep in your possession during your visit/stay in the
  • Inform the medical staff if you have any special requirement for discharge and be prepared to go home/other facility once medically discharged from the
  • Bear the consequences of your own actions if you decide not to follow the health care provider’s instruc- tions and/or treatment plan and
  • Keep your appointments and inform the Clinic in advance if you are unable to attend so that the appoint- ment may be used by someone else in
  • Be accountable for the payment of the services provided by the facility when
  • Respect clinic/hospital property and the rules about visiting
  • Respect our staff. Any verbal or physical abuse from any one in the unit will be reported as incidence of harassment and police will be requested if violence
  • Keep children under your supervision and control at all times, and prevent them from disturbing other patients.
  • Not use mobile phones in patient care If you do use them in other areas use them in a manner that is least likely to disturb other patients or visitors to the hospital.
